Mary Hannah Mills

Project Manager

Serving as the Project Manager for Mississippi State University Extension's Nurturing Homes Initiative (NHI), Mary Hannah Mills is a passionate champion for family daycare providers, teacher preparation, and strengthening early childhood education to ensure high-quality learning experiences for all children. NHI's mission is to improve the quality of the early educational experiences provided in family childcare homes through mentoring, improving the learning environment, and delivering research-based information. Among Mills' professional interests include policy development related to early childhood education as well as financial barriers within family childcare, including inadequate compensation, subsidy reimbursement structures, and access to financial support resources.

Mary Hannah is quite literally at home within the School of Human Sciences, having earned both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Human Development and Family Science from the School. According to Mills, "It is special to be a part of the School of Human Sciences, the place where I spent countless hours during my college years, and where many dedicated professionals shaped my academic experience. Being able to now contribute alongside some of those individuals is very meaningful to me. Being part of MSU is very special to me as well because it means being part of a community that values learning, innovation, and service. Growing up attending sporting events at MSU and making regular trips to Starkville, I have always dreamed of being part of this community. Being an employee allows me to contribute to MSU's mission and vision. This gives me the opportunity to give back to the place that shaped my experiences."

Mary Hannah works tirelessly to enable exemplary care and resources for young children and early childcare programs across the Magnolia state. As such, our faculty and staff are proud to recognize Mary Hannah Mills for her personal and professional commitment to the advancement of the School of Human Sciences' mission and to the MSU and Starkville communities, Mississippi citizens, as well as regional and national and audiences and networks.
